WHEN THINGS GO RIGHT

February 9, 2019
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson
Too much of what is in the world is negative.  Too much of what we focus on on any given day is about when things go wrong.  Today I want to encourage you to stop looking at the world for what it isn’t and start looking at it for what it is.
  • There is Beauty.  Look around you. Are you with another human being?  Isn’t it fascinating that you each have something unique to contribute to the world around you?  Look up.  Do you see the stars, the sky, the clouds, the massive sun that floats across the sky every day.  Isn’t it beautiful?  You have the ability to contribute to this beauty.  Every day you create something beautiful with your life.  Each new day is like a canvas and you are the brush.  What are you creating with your life?
  • There is Justice.  It may not always seem to be so, but truth wins in the end.   A day is coming when all wrongs will be righted and all lies will be unveiled for what they are. Justice isn’t a matter of if, but when.  Things will be turned right again.  Suffering is a part of life.  But one day, there will be no more suffering.  One day, justice will reign again.  So how can you be a bringer of justice into your world today? How can you and I stand for truth this day?
  • There is Wholeness.  Everything isn’t as it should be is it?  But in the midst of the brokenness of this world, there are moments of wholeness.  Celebrate the things in life that are worth celebrating.  Achievement, joy, enjoyment of each other, unconditional love, forgiveness, and relationship with those we care about… these are all significant reminders of wholeness.  Today, how can you pick up the broken pieces of our own lives and the lives of others and bring them back together to create a mosaic of wholeness?  Security, leadership, ownership of our mistakes, and truly loving those in our lives and those we serve in our businesses will serve to create wholeness in this world.
  • There is Reconciliation. Estranged people are brushing off the mistakes, the hurts, the isolation of the past and coming back together.  Marriages are reconciling, parents and children are realizing that life is short and that argument and instability are not worth the pain of continual brokenness in relationship.  People are forgiving one another every day.  Seeing past the failures of other humans, understanding that reconciliation and trust must be reestablished over time, and laying down your pride and your guard long enough to love again is happening.  We’ve caused each other too much pain for far too long.  It is time to reconcile our differences, our broken relationships.  Who is in your life that you haven’t called in ten years?  What conversation have you been holding out to have with that person you should have had a long time ago?  There is reconciliation to be had.  Go and do it today.

When things go wrong, it seems we all know about it.  But when things go right, there doesn’t seem to be any celebration of it at all anymore.  God is in the business of Beauty, Justice, Wholeness, and Reconciliation.  His is a kingdom where these things reign.  Be a part of this Kingdom, and I believe you’ll find your business, your family, your own life flourishing in a way you’ve never thought possible.
